Teaching store retailers about LEGO products in a fun and rewarding way

Challenge

We were approached by LEGO to deliver a detailed proof of concept for an app dedicated to teaching store retailers about LEGO products in a fun and rewarding way.

Process

Initial discovery helped define what success would look like for the product, and meta data and cheat sheets were sourced to show the level of detail that should be taught. Information gathering sessions revealed other training products existed but on a more formal level. We discussed alternative approaches and and researched relevant apps.

Solution

Having concluded our app should be more gamified we devised a core attainment system, defined as Bronze, Silver and Gold (basic, medium, advanced). These goals would be designed to represent the scaled training needs of a vendor, from part-time assistant to store manager. They would have different levels as to what is ultimately expected from them in terms of viable sales knowledge. We wanted users to be able to pick up the app and get involved at convenient times, but also to feel compelled to interact, with reward schemes, both at individual and team levels. Having worked on the LEGO account I was well versed in the brand, and exposure to marketing key facts and cheat sheets provided the level of information that users should be learning.
